Deacon of Groups
Since 2023
Who I am:
Originally from Louisiana, I left home for Arkansas and Utah. Since 1977 I’ve shared life with my wife, Susan. We raised three sons in Texas before moving to Oklahoma in 2005. Our family isn’t geographically close so we are often on the road or in the air to see our six grandchildren. I retired in 2019 after 40 years working as a geophysicist in oil and gas exploration. Maps and science excite me; I’m a nerd. I love the outdoors, camping, hiking, cycling and traveling. Though I’ve visited all 50 states, my quest to reach all seven continents is still underway.
What I do:
I feel my 50+ years of being a Christ follower has equipped me to help walk others through the obstacles of life. The joys and discouragements I’ve experienced over the years leading small/community groups gives me insight as a deacon of groups on listening, loving, encouraging, and supporting Bridgeway group leaders. Though I may have much to share, I am always, in return, receiving so much more from them. I love to get to know people, especially to hear about their journey of when Jesus captured their hearts.
What God did:
There was a time in my teenage life, when pride and jealousy consumed me. But God showed up one evening while I played putt-putt golf and offered forgiveness and an escape from the darkness. Jesus said "Jump in!" I instantly felt free, joyful, and transformed by his love.
