Who I am:
Hi! I'm Esilla, but I go by Essie. Briefly about me; I grew up in the Bay Area, CA, and in a non-Christian home. My family moved to Oklahoma in 2011 which was a huge cultural shock. During my freshman year in college, I was introduced to what the Bible is and became enraptured with what God spoke. Eventually, I acknowledged Jesus as Lord of my life and started following Him.
Later on, I met the love of my life, Bryan, and we married in 2019. That same year, we also became covenant members at Bridgeway. We were captivated by the community, the reverence of the Word, and the awe of the Spirit. In 2020, we made a big move to Wheaton, Illinois so that Bryan could attend Wheaton College. We remained there until May 2022. We moved back to Oklahoma so that we could pursue a path that will lead us to labor for Christ among the unreached peoples.
What I do:
As the Communications Coordinator, I think that there are beautiful ways to communicate the beauty and glory of God. Social media, emails, posters, and photography should all aim to invite one to draw near to the throne of God. My hope is that as people observe the beauty of the body of Christ drawing near to Him, they will seek to draw near to us. The ultimate goal is to bring people into a new or continuous relationship with Jesus.
What God did:
There was a time in my life when I was directionless and severely depressed. Then I received His forgiveness and began to follow Him as King. Now, I walk with immense joy and deep freedom.
